Thermal Plume Modelling

Carbon Zero Consulting’s high level of thermogeology expertise is being used more than ever to help clients complete their open loop ground source systems. Before a system can be operated, the Environment Agency now requires a ‘Thermal plume model’ to accompany a discharge consent application for re-injection of groundwater. Our in-house analytical model and expertise has been required on 3 occasions this month for systems in London. Our approach is to model the thermal plume migration over a period of 25 years with details given of the time taken for the mean thermal front to reach given distances and features from the re-injection borehole.
